Welcome to Filtered. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our AI-powered communication filtering service. By using Filtered, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Filtered, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our service.

2. Service Description

Filtered provides an AI-powered message filtering service designed for filtering difficult communications. Our service includes:

• In-app secure messaging between connected users
• AI-powered filtering of hostile or harmful message content
• Smart notifications for urgent matters
• AI-generated response suggestions
• Task extraction from messages
• Message history and documentation

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Filtered. By using our service, you represent that you are of legal age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

4. Account Registration

To use Filtered, you must create an account with accurate and complete information. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

5. Communication Consent

By creating an account, you consent to receive communications including:

• Messages from your contact through the Filtered app (filtered for hostile content if you're a Pro member)
• Push notifications for urgent matters and new messages
• Service notifications about your account

You may manage notification preferences at any time through app settings.

Notification Settings

You may customize notification frequency for each conversation. Available options include:

• Immediate: Receive notifications as messages arrive
• Daily: One summary notification per day at your chosen time
• Every Other Day: Summary notification every 2 days at your chosen time
• Weekly: One summary notification per week on your chosen day and time
• Off: No notifications for this conversation

Notification timing depends on your device's timezone settings and may be affected by network availability or device power management settings. Notification delivery also relies on third-party push notification services, which are beyond our control. We cannot guarantee exact delivery times.

Important: By selecting reduced notification frequency or turning notifications off, you acknowledge that you remain responsible for checking the app regularly. As stated in Section 8, Filtered is not an emergency detection service. For urgent matters affecting child safety, contact emergency services directly. If you have legal obligations regarding response times, you should consider how your notification settings may affect your ability to respond promptly.

6. Subscription and Payment

Filtered offers a 14-day free trial for new users. A valid payment method is required to start your trial. After the trial period:

• Continued use requires a paid subscription at $14.99 per month (or $119.88 per year)
• Automatic Renewal: Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged the then-current subscription rate.
• Trial Conversion: Your free trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. To avoid being charged, cancel in Settings > Subscription before your trial period expires.
• You may cancel at any time through the app; access continues until the end of your current billing period
• Refund Policy: Subscriptions are non-refundable except for: (1) technical issues that prevented service access, (2) duplicate charges, or (3) charges made after cancellation was properly submitted. Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the charge.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Filtered only for legitimate communication purposes. You may NOT:

• Use the service to harass, threaten, or abuse any person
• Send illegal content or use the service for illegal purposes
• Attempt to circumvent our filtering systems for malicious purposes
• Share your account credentials with others
• Use automated systems to access the service without permission
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract our AI models or algorithms

8. AI Filtering Disclaimer

Important: Our AI filtering technology is designed to identify and filter hostile, manipulative, or emotionally harmful content. However, you understand and acknowledge that:

• AI is not perfect: AI filtering may miss harmful content, misinterpret tone or intent, or fail to detect safety-critical information
• AI may generate inaccurate content: Summaries, mood assessments, and suggested responses are AI-generated and may contain errors, omissions, or mischaracterizations. AI systems may occasionally "hallucinate" or generate information not present in the original message
• Not for emergencies: Filtered is NOT an emergency detection service. You should NEVER rely solely on Filtered to detect threats or emergencies. If you or your children are in danger, call 911
• View original messages: You should review original messages for all decisions involving safety, schedules, finances, medical information, or legal matters
• Not professional advice: Filtered does not provide legal, therapeutic, medical, or safety advice. Consult appropriate professionals for such matters
• Not for legal evidence: AI-generated summaries and analysis are not designed for use as evidence in legal proceedings. Original messages may be exported for legal documentation, but AI analysis represents algorithmic interpretation, not factual determination

You acknowledge that Filtered is a communication management tool and should not replace professional support, your own judgment, or reviewing original messages when important decisions are involved.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Filtered does not warrant that:

• The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or reliable
• The AI will detect all threats, emergencies, or safety concerns
• Any defects in the service will be corrected

10. Intellectual Property

Filtered and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our service without permission.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Filtered and its operators shall not be liable for:

• Any harm arising from reliance on AI-generated summaries, mood assessments, or suggested responses
• Failure to detect threats, abuse, manipulation, or safety concerns in messages
• Messages that were not properly filtered or were mischaracterized
• Decisions you make based on filtered content or AI suggestions
• Service interruptions, delays, or missed/delayed message delivery
• Actions or content of third parties, including your contact
• Any claims brought by third parties arising from your use of the Service
• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms shall limit our liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Filtered and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law
• Communications you send to your contact or third parties using or based on the Service
• Your misuse of AI-generated content, including using summaries or analysis as evidence in legal proceedings
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Any false or misleading information you provide to us

This indemnification does not apply to claims arising solely from our gross negligence or willful misconduct.

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior. You may terminate your account at any time through the app or by contacting us.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California.
