How Filtered Works
How does the AI filtering work?
Our AI analyzes incoming messages and removes hostile, manipulative, or emotionally charged language while preserving the essential information. You see a summary of what matters: schedules, requests, and important updates. You always have the option to view the original message if needed.
Will the other person know I'm using Filtered?
Both of you use the Filtered app to communicate. They'll know messages go through Filtered, but the filtering happens only on your side. They send normal messages and won't see which ones triggered filtering or your filtered view.
How is this different from blocking them?
Blocking cuts off communication entirely, which isn't always an option. Filtered keeps you connected and informed while protecting your mental health. You stay in the loop without the emotional toll of hostile messages.
Can I turn off filtering?
Yes. You have full control. You can view individual original messages anytime, or turn on "Show Original Messages" in settings to see everything unfiltered. It's your choice, and you can change it at any time.
Safety & Emergencies
What if there's an emergency?
Our AI is designed to prioritize and alert you to urgent and emergency messages, even if they contain hostile language. However, no AI system can guarantee detection of every emergency. For critical safety matters, we recommend reviewing original messages and always calling 911 for immediate emergencies.
What kinds of messages get flagged as urgent?
Messages about medical emergencies, safety concerns, immediate schedule changes, and time-sensitive matters requiring quick response. The AI errs on the side of caution, but you should always verify important details in original messages when safety may be involved.
Is the AI filtering always accurate?
No AI is perfect. Our filtering may occasionally miss important context, misinterpret tone, or fail to detect concerning content. AI summaries are designed to reduce emotional exposure, not replace your judgment. Always tap "View Original" for messages about safety, schedules, finances, or legal matters.
Legal & Documentation
Can I use the original messages in court?
Yes. All original messages are stored securely and accessible anytime. You can view, export, and use them for legal documentation. We retain messages for 2 years specifically so you have records for legal proceedings if needed.
How do I export messages for my lawyer?
In the app, go to Settings > Export Messages. You can export all conversations or specific date ranges as a PDF with timestamps, preserving both the filtered summaries and original messages.
Privacy & Security
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. All messages are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and in transit using TLS 1.3. We never sell your data to third parties. Your conversations are private and protected. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
Who can see my messages?
Only you. Our AI processes messages automatically without human review. Support staff cannot access your message content. The only exception is if you explicitly share messages (like exporting for legal purposes) or if required by valid legal process.
How long are messages stored?
Messages are retained for 2 years from the date received. This gives you ample time for legal proceedings while ensuring we don't hold your data indefinitely. You can request deletion of your data at any time.
Pricing & Account
What happens after the free trial?
After 14 days, your subscription continues at $14.99/month (or $119.88/year to save 33%). You can cancel anytime before the trial ends and won't be charged. No commitments, no contracts.
How does pricing work for both people?
One person subscribes to Filtered Pro and gets full AI protection: filtered messages, mood analysis, pattern detection, and more. The other person is automatically added to the free tier. They can message you through the secure app and upgrade to Pro anytime for full filtering features.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your account settings. If you cancel, you'll retain access until the end of your current billing period. We don't believe in trapping people in subscriptions.
What happens to my messages if I cancel?
Your message history remains accessible for 30 days after cancellation so you can export anything you need. After that, your data is deleted per our privacy policy.
